2018 Queen’s Young Leaders Mentoring Programme for young Professionals

As a mentor on the mentors Queen’s Young Leaders Mentoring Programme, you will be connected to a unique global network of experts in enterprise, investment, education, development and more. Mentors also get a free coaching course provided by the University of Cambridge’s Institute of Continuing Education.
The Queen’s Young Leader Award recognises young people from across the Commonwealth, who are taking a lead in their communities and using their skills to transform lives.
As part of the award, Queen’s Young Leaders win a package of training and mentoring developed by the Institute of Continuing Education at the University of Cambridge.

This voluntary role is an opportunity to give a helping hand to the next generation of young leaders from across the Commonwealth. Mentoring takes place between June and December each year.
Personal/Advisory mentor? Personal mentors offer traditional one-to-one mentoring – sharing advice, experience and networks. Advisory mentors help the Queen’s Young Leaders tackle specific issues, as and when needed.
Personal mentors are matched to Queen’s Young Leaders according to their skills and experience. Mentors who are not matched in 2016 may become advisory mentors and will be considered for possible one-to-one matches in future years.
What do Queen’s Young Leaders need from a mentor?
It varies, but may include help with:
- influencing policy
- international development
- organisational strategy
- business skills
- access to funders
- pastoral support
- management expertise
- communications and media
- networking
- developing ideas.
Time Commitment:
- Personal mentors must commit approximately 30 hours from from April to December 2018. Advisory mentors offer up to eight hours over the eight months, to eight different Queen’s Young Leaders.
Applying
- As well as your photograph and CV, you will need to provide a biography in order to complete the application. This will be a maximum of 200 words and must cover your expertise, experience and what you can offer as a mentor.
- Please note that we use these biographies on the Leading Change website so they may be edited to fit in with our house style and to ensure it is web-friendly and accessible for those who use screen-readers. You cannot update information on the website once it has gone live.

- Applications for the 2018 Queen’s Young Leaders Mentoring programme are open now. All applications to be a mentor must be completed by Sunday 18th February.
