Paid Internship at WFP in France (US$1000 per month)

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. Each year, WFP assists some 80 million people in around 80 countries.

PAR LO is seeking to increase awareness and highlight the role of WFP in humanitarian emergencies through multiple communication campaigns.

Our ultimate aim is to establish and improve upon long-term partnerships with communication partners; and raise awareness in the French public of WFP’s mandate and life changing work carried out all over the world, every day.

We are looking for a communications intern for an initial period of four months with possible extension, starting as soon as possible.

Key outputs/Responsibilities:

  1. Provide coordination, administrative and specialized services, to support staff in the development, preparation and execution of communications campaigns for target audiences.
  2. Monitor and coordinate materials, schedules, facilities and clearances, and provide support for special events, and video/film, photographic and radio projects.
  3. Conduct clearly defined research and prepare reports and provide data that enables informed decision-making.
  4. Monitor traditional and social media and report relevant information to senior staff to inform the development and/or evaluation of communications activities and strategies.
  5. Under clear guidance, prepare content for traditional and social media platforms and networks, and printed materials, to enhance coverage and support of WFP’s activities, ensuring consistency with corporate messages and standards.
  6. Distribute communications guidelines for WFP staff to refer to when creating content.
  7. Manage and maintain records and databases, such as journalist and media outlet contact lists, to ensure the information is accurate, organised and readily available for others to access.
  8. Respond to a variety of queries and requests for support, following standard processes, and obtaining guidance as required, to ensure timely and accurate resolution of all enquiries.

Essential Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled having completed at least two years of undergraduate studies or have recently graduated in the last six months with a BA or MA;
  • University course attendance in the past twelve months;
  • Proficiency in Windows, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook);
  • Excellent command of English and French (native level proficiency),
  • Excellent research skills;
  • Knowledge on communication campaigns;
  • Team spirit, good organizational and interpersonal skills, able to work independently.

Terms and Conditions

  • Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the maximum amount of US$1000 per month depending on the duty station of assignment.
  • WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas and related costs.
  • WFP will reimburse travel ticket for candidates who are nationals of developing countries and are pursuing their studies in their home country.
  • WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education;
