Swedish Institute’s Visby Programme Scholarships for Exchange Students 2018

The Swedish Institute Visby Programme Scholarships for exchange students is now open for applications. The Swedish Institute (SI) Visby Programme is a scholarship programme for student, research and expert mobility in both directions between Sweden and countries in the EU Eastern Partnership and Russia. The Visby Programme aims at building capacity in young professionals who have the ambition to play an active role in society and to contribute to a positive development in their home countries and region.
The programme focuses on the individual mobility of young, academic talents to promote professional collaboration and lasting relations between Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Russia, Sweden and Ukraine. The goal is to build an integrated, knowledge-based and research-intense region where environmental and social sustainability, innovation and responsibility in management are key factors in achieving sustainable economic growth and regional development.
The scholarship is offered within the Visby Programme, a part of SI’s Baltic Sea Cooperation.
Scholarship
Are you planning on doing exchange studies in Sweden? The Swedish Institute offers scholarships for exchange students for up to two semesters. An estimated 30 scholarships will be available.
Included in the scholarship
- Scholarship of SEK 9 000 per month for exchange studies in Sweden, for one or two semesters
- Insurance
- Travel grant of SEK 5 000
- Membership in the SI Network for Future Global Leaders
Eligibility
- You can apply if you are have been nominated or have applied for exchange studies in Sweden through your home university.
- You must also be a citizen of, and currently living in one of the following countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine.
- Students from these countries, who have been nominated for exchange studies in Sweden, can apply for a scholarship for one or two semesters.
You cannot apply for the scholarship if you have been living in Sweden for two years or longer, have already started your exchange studies in Sweden before your application has been assessed by SI or if you have already received three or more scholarships from SI.
Application
Before you can apply for the scholarship, you must apply for exchange studies through your university in your home country. Contact the international office at your university for information regarding the application process. This should be done well in advance.
The following documents must be submitted in order for your application to be processed by SI.
- Admission letter
Official admission letter from the receiving University in Sweden (the studies must be supported by an exchange agreement). Max. 2 pages. - Motivation letter
Mandatory SI template for the academic year 2018/2019 must be used. Download the SI template here. - CV
CV according to the Europass template. Max. 3 pages. Additional pages will not be considered. We also ask you not to insert any photos of yourself in the CV, and to not attach any additional annexes. - Language certificate
For studies in English a copy of an internationally recognized English test result (e.g. TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge) is required. Alternatively, the SI template for English proficiency can be can be filled out by an English teacher or another professional who can evaluate and comment on the English language proficiency of the applicant. The English proficiency requirement is at least English 6 or Independent User B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
