U.S Mission to India: Applications Open for Youth Leaders as Change Makers Project

The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi (PAS New Delhi) seeks proposals for a project entitled “Youth Leaders as Change Makers” which consist of a series of workshops, follow-on activities and networking platform(s) for youth to engage with their peers on issues of concerns to both India and the United States.

U.S. Embassy New Delhi strongly supports initiatives that develop the skills of youth through exchange programs, leadership training and experiential learning, and that connect American and Indian youth through carefully designed linkages.

The proposed project will equip youth leaders with skills and direct their initial efforts through workshops and follow-on mentoring. The project will serve to provide young leaders with the skills to promote change in their communities by sensitizing civil society, raising awareness, providing information and advocating for change needed to address issues linked both to India’s major social challenges and to the Embassy’s strategic goals in country.

Furthermore, the American Center seeks to identify and engage with those Indian youth who demonstrate the potential to influence their peers. This program will enable the Center to establish a meaningful relationship with these future influencers during their formative stages and, through the creation of the project’s future-leaders network, maintain the relationship into the future.

Themes

The selected grantee will be responsible for organizing and implementing three two-day workshops, to be attended by 15-20 youth leaders (45-60 youth leaders in total) on the following three main themes:

• Female Empowerment
• Environment
• Health (including mental health)

Funding Information

• Estimated Total Program Funding: $40,000
• Award Ceiling: $40,000
• Award Floor: $35,000

Eligibility Criteria

• Eligibility is open to all non-profit, non-governmental organizations.
• Individuals are not eligible for an award under this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO).
• Organizations may sub-contract with other entities, but only one, non-profit, non-governmental entity can be the prime recipient of the award.
• Cost sharing or matching is not required for this funding opportunity.
• Pre-award costs are not an allowable expense for this funding opportunity.
• This award does not allow for construction activities or costs.
• U.S. Embassy New Delhi grants cannot be used to fund religious or partisan political activity; fundraising campaigns; commercial projects; scientific research; projects whose primary aim is the institutional development of the organization, or illegal activities.
• Organizations must have a Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number from Dun & Bradstreet
• Applicants must register with Grants.gov prior to submitting an application.
• For Indian applicants, the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) of the Government of India
  applies.
• Applicants must acquire all required registrations and rights in the United States and India.
• All intellectual property considerations and rights must be fully met in the United States and India.
• Any sub-recipient organization must also meet all the U.S. and Indian requirements.
