Call of internship at Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP)

Internship is for work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the division or office to which they are assigned.
The mandate of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is to promote inclusive economic, social and environmental development and support regional cooperation and integration in the Asian and Pacific region. ESCAP’s role as a regional development arm of the United Nations Secretariat is to support its membership, through its analytical, normative and technical cooperation, to support the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Addis Ababa Action Agenda.
Duty Station: BANGKOK.
Responsibilities:
Focussing on SDG13 climate change and development finance, and the intersection between public, private and financial sectors, the responsibilities for this post are:
- Collects quantitative and qualitative information and data and develops databases;
- Contributes inputs for technical papers, analytical studies, econometric analyses and survey development;
- Provides inputs to concept notes, project funding proposals or business plans, including budget projections;
- Undertakes private sector stakeholder mapping and builds database;
- Identifies relevant partners and donors, recommends partner and donor outreach strategy;
- Contributes to implementation of capacity building projects; and
- Performs other duties as required.

Eligibility:
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants must met one of the following requirements:
- be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or
- be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or
- have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation.
Languages:
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
- Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an asset. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
