CASW Travel Fellowships 2018 for Journalists to attend the 56th New Horizons in Science briefings

Deadline: August 29, 2018

The New Horizons Travel Fellowships 2018 are open for applications. The Council for the Advancement of Science Writing (CASW) offers travel fellowships to cover the cost of attending the annual New Horizons in Science briefing for journalists. The 56th edition of the New Horizons in Science briefings will be presented in Washington, DC, as part of ScienceWriters2018. Organized in conjunction with the annual meeting and workshops program of the National Association of Science Writers, New Horizons is hosted by the George Washington University.

The annual conference brings together top-rank scientists and leading science reporters for an in-depth look at seminal developments in science, medicine and technology that are likely to make news in the coming months. Fellows will also have the opportunity to participate in the day-long professional workshops sponsored by the National Association of Science Writers that immediately precede the briefing.

The fellowships offer a unique introduction to science reporting that will prove of long-term benefit to the individual and the profession. CASW will, upon request, assign a veteran science writer to serve as personal mentor to the fellowship recipient.
