Applications invited for UICC’s Young Leaders Programme

The Union for International Cancer Control’s (UICC) rapidly increasing membership base of over 1100 organisations in more than 170 countries, represents the world’s major cancer societies, ministries of health and patient groups and includes influential policy makers, researchers and experts in cancer prevention and control. UICC also boasts more than 50 strategic partners. The organisation is dedicated to taking the lead in convening, capacity building and advocacy initiatives that unite and support the cancer community to reduce the global cancer burden, promote greater equity, and to ensure cancer control continues to be a priority in the world health and development agenda.
Fellowship description
UICC aims to nurture aspiring young cancer control professionals to become successful leaders in cancer control and the wider global health community. In order to do so, UICC offers a unique opportunity to become a UICC Young Leader and to be part of a global network of inspiring and ambitious young leaders in cancer control. Through the programme, UICC will facilitate opportunities for peer-to-peer learning, for networking and connecting with experienced leaders, and the chance to engage and participate in recognised international events.
Eligibility and selection criteria
UICC defines a Young Leader as someone who:
- is up to and including 40 years of age at the application deadline
- is an emerging cancer control professional with demonstrated impact in their network/organisation
- is fluent in English (both spoken and written) for successful interaction at an international level
- is a self-starter with proven experience in community engagement and mobilisation in their local setting
- has the ambition to scale their impact on a regional and global level
