Reliance Foundation Postgraduate Scholarships

As India strides forward into the fourth industrial revolution, our nation stands at a pivotal moment, poised to leverage its unique strengths in demographics and democracy. With a vibrant youth population and a commitment to inclusive growth, India is ready to embrace and utilize new technologies to drive sustainable and equitable development.

In recent years, the role of digital technology in India has evolved significantly. The country has worked, studied, shopped, received healthcare, and socialized online—underscoring the transformative power of technology. As we enter the era of 5G, there is an escalating demand for skilled professionals in digital and technical fields. By 2025, India will need an estimated 22 million workers with 5G-related competencies. In addition, breakthroughs in renewable energy and biotechnology offer tremendous opportunities to secure a sustainable future for generations to come.

In this context, the Reliance Foundation Postgraduate Scholarships are designed to cultivate world-class talent that will drive India’s new era of growth. The foundation will identify and support 100 of India’s brightest postgraduate students pursuing select, future-focused courses in Engineering and Life Sciences. Through a generous grant and a robust development program, the scholarships aim to nurture future leaders who will think big, think green, and think digital for the benefit of society.

Scholarship Overview:

  • Eligible Fields of Study: First-year postgraduate students from recognized institutions across India pursuing degrees in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Mathematics & Computing, Electrical and/or Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Renewable & New Energy, Material Science & Engineering, and Life Sciences are eligible to apply.
  • Holistic Development: Scholars will benefit from a comprehensive development program, including expert interactions, industry exposure, and volunteering opportunities, creating a cohort of excellence every year.
  • Financial Support: Up to 100 scholars will be selected each year. The scholarship provides up to INR 6 Lakhs over the duration of the degree program, with 80% disbursed at the start of each academic year to cover tuition and academic expenses. The remaining 20% is available upon request to support professional development, including conference participation and other personal development activities.
  • Additional Opportunities: Scholars will join a vibrant community with access to talks and workshops with global experts, mentoring and internship opportunities, a strong alumni network, and more.

Application and Selection Process:

Applications for the 2024-25 Reliance Foundation Postgraduate Scholarships are now open.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Resident Indian Citizens enrolled as first-year full-time postgraduate students in eligible degree programs (as listed above).
  • Academic Requirements: Applicants must have secured a GATE score between 550-1,000 or, for those who have not attempted GATE, a minimum undergraduate CGPA of 7.5 (or equivalent percentage normalized to CGPA)

Ineligible Candidates:
  • Second-year postgraduate students.
  • Students enrolled in online, remote, distance, hybrid, part-time, or other non-regular modes of education.
  • Students with a GATE score below 550, even if they meet the CGPA requirement.
  • Students pursuing only Mathematics under the Mathematics & Computing category.
  • Candidates who do not complete the mandatory aptitude test or are found cheating during the test.
