The International Food Protection Training Institute Fellowship in Food Protection
The International Food Protection Training Institute (IFPTI) is inviting food protection professionals in the U.S. and around the world to apply for Cohort VII of The IFPTI Fellowship Program, which is a 1-year leadership development program in food safety for those who want to make a positive impact on the profession through association membership, advocacy, and applied leadership.
As part of the program, fellows will attend 3 on-location week-long sessions, periodic webinars, and a mentor-guided research project. This program is guided by recognized leaders in food protection and focuses on the areas of Advanced Communication, Program Management, and Applied Leadership.
Fellows also have to complete a 10-module online course, the IF 1100 Foundations for Integrating the Food Safety System (IFSS). They have to attend all the week-long sessions and participate in all interactive seminars. They also need to pass a test at the end of each week-long session. Fellows will conduct an original evidence-based research project, including literature review, on a food protection issue. This will culminate in a professional research article, presentation and research poster presented during the AFDO (Association of Food and Drug Officials) Annual Educational Conference.
The online IFSS course is provided free of charge. IFPTI will cover full tuition fees and all travel expenses for selected fellows.
International applicants: All regulators and laboratorians employed by non-U.S. human or animal food/feed regulatory agencies or government laboratories supporting food regulatory programs are eligible. The non-U.S. food regulator or laboratorian applicant must personally contact IFPTI for an in-depth discussion of his or her agency’s responsibilities for full tuition payment and all travel expenses. They must be proficient in English, possessing an English proficiency of International English Language Testing System (IELTS) of a minimum of band 7 (good user).
U.S. applicants: They have to be employed by a U.S. human or animal food/feed regulatory agency (local, state, federal, tribal or territorial) or a government laboratory (supporting regulatory food programs). Those who are not from such agencies or laboratories will have their applicant contact information kept on file, in case the fellowship program expands in future to include participation by non-regulatory personnel.
Applications are to be done online by 1 March 2018.
