Rotary Peace Fellowships

Each year, Rotary offers up to 100 Peace Fellowships to individuals who have a passion and commitment for international understanding and peace. Applications are being invited for AY 2018-19. There are 2 types of peace fellowships: 1) Masters degree, and 2) Professional Development Certificate.

Up to 50 fellowships will be awarded to those who wish to pursue a Masters Degree in fields related to peace and conflict prevention and resolution at 1 of the following Universities: Duke University, U.S. (Masters degree in international development policy), University of Carolina (graduate certificate in international peace and conflict resolution), University of Bradford, UK (Masters degrees in the Department of Peace Studies), International Christian University, Japan (Masters degrees in social sciences, natural sciences, and interdisciplinary studies), University of Queensland, Australia (Masters degree in international studies and peace and conflict studies) and Uppsala University, Sweden (Masters degree in social science at the Department of Peace and Conflict Research). The Masters programs last 15 to 24 months and require a practical internship of 2 to 3 months.

Experienced professionals working in peace-related fields who want to enhance their professional skills can apply for the 3-month Professional Development Certificate program in peace and conflict prevention and resolution at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, which includes 2 to 3 weeks of field study. Up to 50 such fellowships will be awarded.

Benefits

The fully funded Fellowships cover tuition and fees, room and board, round-trip transportation, and all internship and field study expenses.

Eligibility

Rotary is looking for people with excellent leadership skills who are strongly committed to international understanding and peace, as demonstrated through their professional and academic achievements as well as service to the community. All applicants must be proficient in English, and preferably also in a second language. They should be professionals with work experience in international relations or peace and conflict prevention and resolution.

Masters degree applicants must possess at least 3 years of related full-time work or volunteer experience as well as a Bachelors degree. Certificate applicants need to have at least 5 years of related full-time work or volunteer experience and a strong academic background.

Application

To apply for a Peace Fellowship, download the application form from the Rotary website and submit the completed form to a Rotary Club or district for endorsement. The deadline for districts to submit applications to Rotary International for AY 2018-19 is 1 July 2018, while the deadline for submitting to districts is 31 May 2018.
