Kiva Fellow Program
Kiva, the world’s first person-to-person micro-lending website is looking for individuals looking to put their skills to work in support of global microfinance by applying to the Kiva Fellows Program running from 16 July 2018 to 25 January 2019. The Kiva fellowship is a full-time, 6-month program, during which Fellows are matched with 1 or more Kiva Field Partners in more than 60 countries throughout the developing world. Field Partners are local microfinance institutions, social enterprises and other organizations that facilitate Kiva loans.
Most fellows will be placed with multiple field partners in several countries throughout the duration of their fellowship. They will help to support operations and monitor Kiva’s Field Partners, including meeting with borrowers, documenting Kiva processes, conducting trainings, and working with field staff to improve efficiency.
Some fellows may also work on design and management of partners’ credit programs, the risk management and strategy development of partners, or Kiva’s impact measurement efforts. They could also be involved in helping to find and develop new partners, blogging from the field, and sharing photo and video content that helps tell the story of Kiva’s impact.
Benefits
The Kiva Fellowship is an unpaid, volunteer position. But the Kiva Fellows Program has a small budget to help offset costs by reimbursing fellows for international travel of up to US$1,500 in total and monthly living expenses of up to US$2,500 in total for a 6-month fellowship, or around US$400/month, disbursed monthly and based on a standardized per diem rate. Fellows are also covered under Kiva’s travel insurance policy.
Eligibility
Applicants must be at least 21 years old and speak fluent English. They need to have access to a working laptop for use during training and for the duration of the fellowship.
Application
Applications are to be done online by 15 April 2018.
